Leccio Chiaretto Monferrato DOC
£10.50
Fresh and delicate on the nose with citrus and raspberry notes. The palate balances tangy redcurrant and cherry fruit with crisp, lemony acidity leading to a clean dry finish.
Ideal with basil and goats cheese risotto, or pasta with seafood sauce and cherry tomatoes.
Il Cascinone is a historic estate in the Acquese area of Alto Monferrato, founded in the 1920s and long recognized for its dedication to Barbera d’Asti. Known for its steep, picturesque vineyards, the estate fell into decline in the mid-20th century, suffering abandonment and vineyard loss. In 2001, it was purchased by the Araldica Group, who undertook a major restoration—replanting vineyards, renovating cellars, and reestablishing Il Cascinone as a leading winery in the region. Today, the estate spans 102 hectares in a single plot near Acqui Terme, one of the prime areas for Barbera cultivation. With a state-of-the-art winemaking facility inaugurated in 2004, Il Cascinone produces three Barbera d’Asti Superiore wines, all aged in a mix of French barriques and large Slavonian oak casks, reflecting a blend of tradition, innovation, and a deep respect for the region's terroir.
