Domaine Bousquet, Gran Malbec
Intense violet colour. Attractive and enticing depth of fruit on the nose with cassis, blueberries, blood plums, sarsaparilla, and spice. The palate has attractive fresh fruit flavours with smooth and juicy tannins. Primarily Malbec, blended with Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and Merlot for roundness, this wine is a testament to its Argentine-Andean heritage and the French origin of the Bousquet family. The grapes are fermented for 12 days and then ages in French oak for 10 months.
Ideal with leaner red meats, turkey, and especially blue cheese.
This wine began life in the first vineyard planted by the Bousquet family in 2000, after their arrival from France. In the high desert Uco Valley in Argentina’s Mendoza region, the grapes are the last to be harvested, ensuring more richness and body.
The Bousquet family originally arrived from Carcassonne, in the South of France and can proudly claim to have four generations of experience in the winemaking tradition. Their first foray to Mendoza was in 1990 with the aim of understanding the unique nature of the climate, soils and topography of this imposing, impressive upland region but it was not until 1997 that the family made their first purchase of land and re-located from France. Nowadays, Domaine Bousquet produces 4 million liters a year and export 95% of its volume to more than 50 countries. The Estate currently ranks in the top 20 Argentine wineries in terms of exports and is the leader in organic wine. The estate consists of 240 hectares in Gualtallary, Tupungato, Uco Valley (Mendoza) which has idyllic wine-growing conditions. The vineyard was planted on virgin land by Jean Bousquet after its purchase in 1997. Domaine Bousquet´s philosophy is to focus on preserving the grapes high-quality characteristics, which is why gentle handling of the fruit is the guiding principle of our winery. Bousquet is the main exporting winery of wines made only with grapes certified organic from
Argentina, among the most awarded and with the greatest number of certifications in the world. The original commitment, which began with the certification of organic practices, led the team to become the first Argentine winery and 4th globally to obtain the Regenerative Organic Certification (ROC) granted by the Regenerative Organic Alliance.
