Klein Constantia, Blanc de Blanc Cap Classique Brut
Bright and pale gold in appearance. An intense nose with vibrant flavours of stone fruit and citrus blossom, with a hint of brioche and lime zest. The upfront palate boasts precise bubbles, a fine and delicate mouse and rich buttery flavours concluding with a crisp, long, and zesty finish. The grapes are selected from a single block located on the lower slopes of Klein Constantia. Three different batches were harvested early in the season to ensure complexity, freshness, fruit, and intensity. The free-run juice is fermented and aged in stainless steel tank for 7 months. Following blending, bottling and secondary fermentation, the wine was aged for a further 38 months.
Ideal as an aperitif and with grilled fish, chicken, and turkey.
Dating back to 1685 and described as one of the world’s most beautiful wine estates, Klein Constantia is set amidst ancient trees on the upper foothills of Constantiaberg. Klein Constantia is home to some of the most historic vineyards in South Africa. The team continually strive to produce wines in more environmentally responsible ways, utilising precision farming tools to understand vineyard needs, maximising applications of best suited organic products and biodynamic preparations and principles, minimizing conventional methods and products. With a vision aligned with that of the World Wildlife Fund, Klein Constantia aim to unite conservation and agricultural development in a complementary, mutually beneficial manner. In recognition of their efforts to boost biodiversity, manage soil erosion, protect against fire, harness solar energy, reduce herbicide usage and embrace an integrated pest management programme, Klein Constantia has been recognised as a WWF Conservation Champion since 2011. The unique location, climate, and soils of the estate call for the making of terroir-driven wines, and it is to this principle that the team is deeply committed.
