Bouchard Pere & Fils Nuits St Georges

Red Burgundy

£62.95

Intense aromatic profile, opening with concentrated notes of ripe blackberry and dark cherry, layered with hints of black pepper, clove, and subtle earthy undertones. As it evolves, delicate nuances of violet and forest floor emerge, adding complexity and depth to the bouquet.
On the palate, this is a classic expression of southern Côte de Nuits: rich, firm, and structured. The tannins are pronounced yet finely grained, providing a solid backbone that supports the wine’s generous fruit core. Flavours of dark berries are complemented by savoury spice and a touch of minerality, leading to a long, persistent finish.

While already impressive in its youth, this wine truly rewards patience. With time in bottle (from 5 to 15 years) it softens and gains roundness, with the tannins integrating beautifully and the flavours becoming more harmonious and nuanced. A wine of depth and character, it stands as a fine example of the power and ageing potential for which Nuits-Saint-Georges is renowned.

Ideal with slow-roasted meats such as beef rib, lamb shoulder, or venison. Game dishes particularly well suited, echoing the wine’s earthy and slightly spicy character.
For something more rustic, try it alongside mushroom-based dishes such as wild mushroom risotto or a creamy mushroom tart. It also pairs well with mature cheeses, especially hard varieties like Comté or aged Cheddar.

Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest wine estates, founded in 1731 in Beaune. With nearly 300 years of history, the producer has built a reputation for crafting classic, terroir-driven wines that reflect the character of some of the region’s finest vineyards.
Today, the estate owns an extensive portfolio of vineyard sites across the Côte d’Or, including both Premier Cru and Grand Cru holdings. This allows them to produce a wide range of wines that consistently express the depth, structure, and elegance associated with Burgundy.
The winery combines historic cellars beneath the Château de Beaune with modern winemaking facilities, blending tradition and innovation. This balance ensures careful vineyard expression and precise winemaking across every vintage.
