Domaine Lebreuil Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Beaune Mont Battois
Red Burgundy
£27.95
Fresh red fruit aromas supported by subtle floral hints and a gentle touch of spice. This wine aromatic profile is pure and expressive, focusing on fruit rather than heavy oak influence.
The palate is soft and approachable, with very supple tannins and a smooth, rounded texture. Juicy red berry flavours carry through cleanly, balanced by lively freshness and a fine acidity that gives the wine energy and lift. The oak ageing is discreet, adding a subtle framing without masking the fruit, while lees contact contributes to a gentle roundness.
Vinified with around 10.5 months in French oak followed by short tank ageing, and undergoing natural malolactic fermentation, the wine achieves a harmonious balance between fruit purity and soft structure.
Enjoyable in its youth for its vibrant fruit profile, it also has a modest ageing potential of around 3 to 8 years depending on the vintage. A versatile style, it pairs well with red meats, grilled dishes, and lighter meals where its freshness and supple tannins can shine.
Domaine Lebreuil is a family-run estate based in the heart of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just outside Beaune in Burgundy. With origins dating back to 1935, the Domaine has been passed down through generations, steadily expanding its vineyard holdings while maintaining a strong focus on traditional Burgundian winemaking. Today, it owns around 10.5 hectares across Savigny-lès-Beaune and Aloxe-Corton, producing a range of village and Premier Cru wines in both red and white.
The estate is committed to expressing terroir with precision, combining classic vineyard practices with modern techniques. It follows a “lutte raisonnée” approach in the vineyard, intervening only when necessary to protect vine health and reduce chemical use. Wines are typically fruit-driven, smooth, and elegant, with fine structure and good ageing potential, reflecting both the character of the grape and the purity of the appellation.
