Philippe Cheron Gevrey Chambertin Les Seuvrées

Red Burgundy

£78.95

Harmonious wine that captures both the depth and finesse typical of this renowned appellation. The nose opens with vibrant aromas of red berries with subtle earthy notes, gentle spice, and a delicate floral lift. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins and a supple texture, supported by bright acidity that keeps the wine poised and expressive. Hints of minerality and a light savory edge add complexity, leading to an elegant, persistent finish.

Aged for 12 months on the lees without racking and matured with only a modest proportion of new oak, the wine retains purity of fruit and terroir expression.

Ideal with (when young) modern, lighter cuisine, complementing dishes such as duck, pork, or mushroom-based preparations. With time in bottle, the wine evolves towards greater depth and complexity, making it suited to more traditional fare, including game and slow-cooked meats.

Domaine Philippe Chéron is a small, family-run estate based in Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, led by Philippe Chéron, who took over the family vineyards and began bottling under his own label in 2011. The domaine spans around 10 hectares across prestigious appellations including Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, and Clos de Vougeot. Working primarily with old-vine Pinot Noir, Chéron follows a low-intervention, sustainable approach in both vineyard and cellar, favoring native yeast fermentations and gentle extraction to preserve terroir expression. The wines are known for their purity, elegance, and structural finesse, reflecting both the heritage of the vineyards and a modern, precise winemaking style.
